In my Foreign Affairs article out this week, I argue that we need to do a lot more thinking about the implications of the genetics revolution. It seems crazy to me that we are on the verge of taking active control of our evolutionary process for the first time in our history but we are hardly talking about it. I put is lick this: the science of human genetic engineering is advancing exponentially, our collective imagination helping us think about it is advancing linearly, and the policy framework that can help us realize the best potential of this science and minimize the worst abuses is inching forward glacially, if that. I also explore these issues in a different way in my novel, Genesis Code.
